Lead Wellis’ expansion into new markets and product categories. Own strategy and execution — from business cases to launches — and help shape the future of a fast-growing healthtech scale-up.

Job description

Wellis is entering its next growth phase. After strong traction in our current markets, we’re preparing to expand into new countries and new product categories. To lead this journey, we’re looking for a Strategy & Expansion Lead — someone who combines sharp strategic thinking with hands-on execution and ownership.

In this role, you’ll help shape where Wellis goes next and make sure those plans actually happen. From market analysis and business cases to launching and scaling new markets, you’ll play a key role in building the future of Wellis.

About Wellis

Wellis is a young, fast-moving healthtech scale-up with a clear mission: combine medical expertise, technology, and data to make healthcare smarter, more efficient, and more personal. We started only 2 years ago, but experienced amazing traction and success, bringing us to a phase where we’re building structure, expanding teams with top talent, and setting up our product and operations for long-term growth.

We focus on lowering barriers to care, especially for health concerns people don’t always feel comfortable seeking help for. Our treatment portfolio is expanding rapidly, and our ambition is to build long-term, digital-first solutions that support people across different stages of their health journey.

You’ll join an ambitious, international team where ownership is encouraged, collaboration is key, and impact is visible from day one. We’re opening our new office in Rotterdam this year, where the team will meet 1–2 days per week to brainstorm, build, and grow together.

About the Role

As Strategy & Expansion Lead, you’ll support and lead Wellis’ growth beyond our current scope. You’ll identify and evaluate new countries, new product categories, and strategic growth initiatives — and then take ownership of turning strategy into execution.

This is a role for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, execution, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with the founders and senior leaders and act as a sparring partner, while also owning projects end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities (e.g. countries, regulatory landscapes, go-to-market models).

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize new product categories and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Build business cases, market-entry strategies, and prioritization frameworks.

  • Lead expansion projects end-to-end, including:

  • Market-entry preparation and launch

  • Cross-functional coordination with Medical, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing, and Product

  • Collaboration with external partners and stakeholders

  • Act as a strategic sparring partner to the founders, with clear ownership and accountability.

  • Translate strategic plans into concrete actions, milestones, and measurable results.

Your Team

You’ll work closely with the founders and leadership team, and collaborate daily with colleagues across medical, regulatory, operations, product, and marketing. This role sits at the heart of Wellis’ growth strategy and touches almost every part of the organisation.

A Week in the Life

  • Monday: Review market analyses and align with founders on expansion priorities.

  • Tuesday: Deep dive into a new country or product category — regulations, market size, competitive landscape.

  • Wednesday: Build or refine a business case and align with medical, ops, and product teams.

  • Thursday: Coordinate with external partners or advisors and prepare next steps for a market launch.

  • Friday: Present insights, recommendations, and progress updates to leadership and define next actions.

Job requirements

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of working experience, of which 4–7+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, business development, or expansion roles.

  • Experience working in scale-ups or fast-growing environments.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience building business cases and strategic frameworks.

  • Comfortable leading projects from idea to execution in ambiguous environments.

  • Able to collaborate across functions and align diverse stakeholders.

  • Hands-on, structured, and outcome-driven.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence in sparring with senior leadership.

  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).

What We Offer

  • A key role in shaping the future growth of a fast-growing healthtech scale-up.

  • High ownership and direct impact on company strategy and expansion.

  • Close collaboration with founders and senior leadership.

  • A dynamic, international environment with short decision lines.

  • Hybrid working: mostly remote, with 1–2 days per week in our Rotterdam office.

  • Competitive salary and growth opportunities as Wellis scales further.

Hiring Process

  • We keep things clear and efficient:

  • Intro call with Talent Acquisition.

  • Interview with founders / leadership focusing on strategy and experience.

  • Case or deep-dive discussion around expansion and decision-making.

  • Final conversation to align on vision, ownership, and fit.
